Holistic Postpartum Care

Postpartum leaves us forever transformed.  Simultaneously navigating caring for a newborn (perhaps now multiple children), recovering physically + emotionally from labor and uncovering + integrating a new identity in our psyche and social spheres.

The immensity of this time means that postpartum care is vital and every woman's right. Traditional wisdom recognizes that women need a period of rest after this significant psychosocial metamorphosis. our bodies + soul need warmth, nourishing food, replenishing + soothing herbs, gentle touch, a peaceful space and the compassionate presence of loved ones and skilled carers. Everyone needs time to rest, recover and integrate for their long-term mental, physical and spiritual health.

I bring to my postpartum care my training as a herbalist, postpartum doula and bodyworker. I focus on foods and herbs to rebuild and replenish and offer postpartum therapies like belly wrapping, moxa and sitz baths. We also nurture a loving space for you to process and integrate your rite of passage. I am also able to support with newborn care, lactation and integrated infant sleep for mental/spiritual wellbeing of baby and mothers.

Matrescence is a profound time that deserves deep care, support and witnessing. The way we are held and tended to makes lasting difference in our healing + integration. Our journey of growing strong bonds and attunement to our baby is enhanced when we can slow down and meet the needs of the present moment from a relaxed, regulated and receptive state. This all impacts how much joy + vitality we experience as mothers and parents. As a postpartum doula I nurture you holistically to support this journey.

Postpartum Care, Rooted in the Body, Traditional Wisdom and a Whole Lot of Love

Postpartum is not a recovery phase to rush through — it is a profound physiological transition that deserves skilled, reverent care.

My work weaves traditional postpartum wisdom with modern, evidence-informed practice, centering the body and soul as the place where healing begins. As a holistic postpartum doula and herbalist, I offer care that is practical, intuitive, and deeply grounded in how bodies actually restore after pregnancy and birth.

This is not aesthetic self-care.
It is biological support. It is mental health care. It is a human right.

A Whole-System Approach to Postpartum

Postpartum doesn’t live in one part of the body — so neither does my care.

I support:

  • The maternal nervous system, which is often depleted by pregnancy, birth, and is fundamentally changed through matrescence.

  • The postpartum body, through nourishment, herbs, rest, body work and practical care

  • The infant’s biology, including sleep and sensory needs

  • The relationship, where safety, attunement, and confidence are built

Emotional overwhelm, exhaustion, and anxiety are not personal failures — they are often signs of unmet biological needs and lack of nurturing care. My role is to help identify and gently meet those needs, not to override them.

Herbs, Hands, and Nourishment

For generations, postpartum care was built around three things: warmth, nourishment, and skilled hands. These remain the foundations of my work.

I support postpartum bodies through:

  • Custom herbal support, grounded in Western herbalism and traditional postpartum practices

  • Bodywork and hands-on care to support circulation, lymphatic flow, uterine involution, and nervous system settling

  • Nourishing food and ritual, designed to rebuild blood, tissues, and energy

Herbs are used with intention — not as trends or quick fixes, but as allies that work in relationship with the body’s own healing intelligence. Food is medicine here, chosen for its capacity to restore, warm, and sustain.

A Whole-System Approach to Healing

Postpartum healing does not happen in isolation. It happens when the body feels safe, resourced, and supported.

My care considers:

  • The hormonal and circulatory shifts of the postpartum period

  • The nervous system, often overstimulated and under-supported

  • The physical aftermath of pregnancy and birth, whether vaginal or caesarean

  • The emotional landscape that lives in the tissues, not just the mind

Rather than overriding symptoms, I work with them — listening to what the body is asking for and responding with skilled, attuned care.

Traditional Wisdom, Practised with Discernment

I honour traditional postpartum practices not as rigid rules, but as time-tested frameworks that can be thoughtfully adapted to modern lives.

Every recommendation is:

  • Individualised

  • Culturally respectful

  • Biologically informed

  • Offered with consent and collaboration

This is care that respects both ancestral knowledge and contemporary safety.

Gentle Sleep Support Without Training or Timelines

I am a sleep coach — but not the kind that asks babies to adapt to systems that ignore their biology. I provide education on normal newborn sleep, attachment and how to get the most rest for the whole family as well as offer guidance if things are feeling overwhelming.

Infant sleep is developmental, relational, and responsive. I support families to understand what is normal, what is changeable, and what simply needs more support — without leaving babies to cry or parents to feel they’ve failed.

Sleep, in my work, is not something to be trained — it is something to be supported.

Who This Care Is For

This work is for those who want postpartum support that is:

  • Deeply embodied, skilled and respectful

  • Rooted in tradition, without dogma

  • Grounded in physiology, not trends

  • Centered on the mother as much as the baby

You are not meant to recover alone.
Postpartum was never meant to be done unsupported.
